The 2012 NWA Student Session will feature Speed Mentoring Event

Attention students! The Membership and Marketing Committee will be sponsoring a “Speed Mentoring” program for students attending the Student Session on Sunday, October 7th at the 2012 National Weather Association Annual Meeting in Madison.

The Speed Mentoring will be held as part of the Student Session from 3:15-4:45 and is designed to link students with as many accomplished, diverse professionals as possible.

Over the course of the program, students will rotate through five groups comprised of at least two mentors. Each mentor group will have about 13 minutes to speak with, and field questions from, their students about building a successful career. It will be similar to speed dating.

The beauty of this event is that students will have access to a wide range of professionals that come from various parts of the meteorological community, including the National Weather Service, television, the military, and academia. While every student is encouraged to attend, this session promises to be particularly valuable to those students still unsure about which part of meteorology they wish to pursue.

While the student session fee will cover your participation in this event, spaces are limited. So in addition to registering for the student session at http://www.nwa-registration.org/register.shtml,   e-mail Michael Page (hinghamwx@comcast.net) to preregister for the speed mentoring session. If slots are still available, the day of registration will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis upon check-in in Madison.
